This house (right) built in 1995 continues to be in perfect condition with little maintenance needed. This home was the first approved bamboo structure by the Maui County Building Department. Bamboo Technologies is building the largest bamboo + ferro cement home as a permitted dwelling in the western world: 2,400 sqft. Walls are made of bamboo poles and ferro cement. Trusses are bamboo poles.
This bamboo Roof Wave Lanai (right) was custom designed for an existing building on beachfront property on Maui. The roof structure covers an indoor/ outdoor lanai and reception area. |

For those who want their own unique design, our architect and builder work with the buyer in relationship to the land where the home or structure is being built. If you would like to entertain the fantasy of creating your own bamboo design we would be glad to assist.
The first custom bamboo home was made of bamboo poles and covered with ferro cement. Ferro cement is made from a sheet of metal lathe that is stretched across the bamboo poles. Cement is spread onto both sides of the metal lathe until it is about an inch thick.
